TRAPKAT XL

TRAPKAT XL

Introducing the ALL NEW TrapKAT XL

Lighter, Thicker foam pads, Feature packed 4.0 software, lighter….The original TrapKAT weighed in at 35 lbs, the TrapKAT XL comes in at a mere 14 lbs!

The trapKAT XL features 24 playing surfaces with True FSR technology in a size and configuration that rivals an acoustic drum kit. With 10 large flat pads, 14 surrounding raised edge or “rim” pads and individual kick and hi-hat footpedal inputs, the trapKAT offers a complete electronic percussion system in single, compact instrument. Up to 16 sounds can be triggered per pad either Velocity Switched, Layered or Alternated. The trapKAT also features an array of built-in percussive and melodic “grooves” which can be completely controlled from the playing surface. This allows the trapKAT to generate additional percussion parts or complete rhythm section grooves for practicing or performing. The trapKAT is the perfect solution for those who desire a comfortable and conventional layout with the power, flexibility and convenience of electronic percussion. Acoustic drum set players will feel right at home!

The new pads are more responsive while being much easier on your arms and hands for extended playing whenever you want!

What’s new in the TrapKAT XL:

LIGHTER
The original trapKAT weighed in at 35 lbs. The new trapKAT XL weights only 14 pounds.

SMALLER
The trapKAT XL is about 2 inches smaller than the original. It is approximately 40” long and 17” high.

NEW PADS
The trapKAT XL now uses individual 1/2” neoprene pads and 3/4” neoprene pads on the bumpers.
The feel is amazing. Much more comfortable than the original rubber pads.

NEW SENSORS
The trapKAT XL has new redesigned sensors that are more dynamic and sensitive than the original trapKAT.

COLOR
Classic textured bronze finish.

SOFTWARE
new powerful 4.0 software

Expanded Hi-Hat pedal capability
Can now be played with Pintech, Yamaha, Hart, and Drumtech and Roland FD 8

Also included are the following new 4.0 chip features

LINK. It is now possible to link any pad to any pad. This means that when a pad is linked, striking that one pad will play the notes from two pads.

ALTERNATE 16. Up to 16 notes can be played on one pad in an alternate fashion. It is possible to use “silence” as a note value so that rhythms can sound by simply playing even 16ths on a pad.

ALTERNATE PAD FUNCTIONS. Pads can be set to FREEZE an alternate pattern or RESET an alternate pattern. These functions can operate globally to all the pads, or just function on the pad assigned.

CONTINUOUS DATA. Any pad can be assigned to send out continuous control data on a pad. The MIDI note number assignment becomes the CC# number and the velocity of the hit becomes the CC value. Minimum and Maximum CC ranges are assigned by velocity minimum and maximum settings.

The same pad can also simultaneously send out up to MIDI notes per pad.

MSB/LSB BANK and PROGRAM CHANGES. Up to four bank and program changes can now be sent out per kit.

MIDI CLOCK. The trapKAT can send a MIDI Clock Start/Stop Command. When this function is enabled, pad 23 becomes a tap tempo pad and pad 24 functions as a Clock Start,Stop pad.

HEAR SOUND. While editing, it is now possible to toggle Hear Sound on and off. This feature enables the user to turn on or off the ability to hear the note number that is being assigned to a pad.

MEMORY PROTECT. The trapKAT will now store your preference of Memory Protect ON or OFF and will power back on to your selection.

GLOBAL TUNNEL PAD. Several pad functions have been consolidated to be listed on pad 18. Pad 19 will change the value associated with that function. This feature allows more Global Functions to be added to the trapKAT.

TRAPKAT EDITOR FOR PC. The editor will be able to read and write SYS EX Files for the trapKAT. Once the data has been read into the editor, the user will be able to modify any of the kit or global parameters using a user friendly interface.

IMPROVED HIHAT INPUT. The new trapKAT now works with most popular hihat controllers like the Roland FD-8, Pintech, Hart AM, etc.

DRUMKAT

DRUMKAT 3.8

Released in 1986 three years after the conception of midi(Musical Instrument Digital Interface), the original DrumKAT controller reigned over the electronic market for years as the most extensive design in percussion controllers. Its power has been noted around the world and is used by many professionals such as Vinnie Colaiuta, Dennis Chambers, Ricky Lawson(Phil Collins) and Steve Alexander(Duran Duran). It was in 1994 Alternate Mode released its biggest venture to date, the TrapKAT, with more playing surface and more than twice the pads.

Being a midi controller, it does not have sounds loaded. This is why they call it a controller as it controls an external sound source(eg. Keyboard, drum machine) via midi. These instruments are more vital now than ever to artistic music production, and are THE only one of their kind.
